Here's a quick list of Do’s and Don'ts for the Borders 4x4 Club forum. This isn't exhaustive but it does cover most of the general forum rules and code of conduct.
Please remember – this is a family site with young families and members. Do not post anything which could be considered offensive, profane or in bad taste. This includes words and abreviations whether directly or not which could be misconstrued as offensive
Good Manners and Respect Do's and Don'ts
• DON'T be snotty to another poster, or make the argument personal
• DO know the difference between differences of opinion and personal attacks
• DON'T present your opinions as facts
• DON'T post the same opinion over and over in the hopes of wearing other people down or "winning" a discussion; just move on
• DON’t have ongoing conversations in the threads; anything not directly related to the thread topic will be removed. If something new arises start a new thread in the appropriate section
Starting New Threads Do's and Don'ts
• DO search for existing topics before starting new threads
• DON'T use all-caps or excessive punctuation in thread titles
• DON'T start a new thread unless you have something of substance to say yourself
• DO make sure you start a thread in the correct place (i.e. Technical, For Sale, Wanted etc.)
Posting Messages Do’s and Don'ts
• DON'T post in a thread until you've read up to the last previous post. This can lead to your post making little or no sense in the context of the thread.
• DON'T post "Me Too!" messages; add something of substance to the conversation
• DO use proper spelling, capitalisation, punctuation, as much as possible
• DO take a minute to read your post prior to submitting, make sure that the post makes sense and can easily be understood by others
• DON'T post copyrighted articles; link to them
• DON'T post the same thing in multiple areas; pick a spot and go with it
Warnings, Bans Do’s and Don'ts
• DO take any moderator warnings you get seriously
• DO help us out and report anything inappropriate to the moderators asap.
